    Re: Comparing & Updating (Access2000)

I'm sorry but Im still am learning english, tblSEC is updated everyday and has new data as well as the old data being changed(only sometimes). in tblSecurity ISIN and SEDOL are the data which we use mostly and need to keep track of. When I want to be able to append data & UPDATE the data in this table.

    Can you help me?

One immediate question. Why are you storing the same data in 2 places? This immediately causes alot of problems, such as the ones you are experiencing.

Apparently, you want to compare records in the 2 tables and then give the user a record-by-record option of manually changing those fields. This will require a considerable amount of code, significantly above and beyond the level of help I can provide here. However, this is what I do for a living, so if you want to contract with me to provide these services, please e-mail me separately (Mark@Liquorman.net) and we can discuss rates and terms.

    Re: Comparing & Updating (Access2000)

    Hi Mark,
Why am storing data in two tables? tblSEC is a linked file from a locked database program designed by some professional and am using this data in my program.

for your suggestion: I would love to pay you to do this but I have to do that out of my pocket and Im a poooooor student who is doing her work placement with the company Im working for and cannot afford to pay you.

So I'll just have to find another way or just tell them that I can't do it and quit.

    Thanks for your help.
    Thank you.

So why not just get the information from tblSEC when you need it, rather than copying it over into your database?

Sorry I can't help you any more, but I can't afford to spend a few hours helping someone here for free, especially when it will turn around and benefit some company. Let them pay for it.
