    Yes.

I was thinking that with only a few hundred of daily-active members we wouldn't have a chance, but with the thousands coming on board we could, perhaps, arrange to do something in a synchronized manners, such as turning our house lights on(*) and off across the face of the earth at a scheduled time.

(*)I remember my mother and I fastening bed sheets to the Hills Hoist in our backyard in Perth that night.

Nice idea but, who would see it, except the crews on the space station or those monitoring the many spy satellites we have over our heads.

PS Haven't heard the words Hills Hoist in many, many years.

Believe it or not it was a common name used for many of the clothes lines in my old Brooklyn NY neighborhood, when I was growing up.

We had one my father built out of Teak Wood that is only G** knows where now.

Many were home made to fit into some of the small back yards.

That's right. About 500 miles of clothes line compressed into a six-foot square.
I thought them particularly appropriate in the southern dry parts of Australia, but am surprised to hear of them in Brooklyn.
No offense meant, but I always thought of Brooklyn as being a warm, moist climate rather than a hot, dry climate.

How nice to see soccer fans doing something other than beating each other senseless. This beats the wave we often see at baseball games! Might be interesting to see this at Yankee Stadium, er wait, I don't think we want to encourage a bunch of drunk Yankee fans to start exposing themselves !

Fantastic synchronization but you've got to have an awful lot of people to make it effective and a lot of spare space to house them - I would think most sports sites are more interested in paying customers
Economical to run but not cheap to acquire

    Right.
But are we talking about sports stadiums or Woody's Lounge?

(Warning USA specific comments to follow)

Are we likely to have very many drunk Yankee fans in the Lounge?! My god! There has to be some kind of qualifier to limit that from happening! Obviously, this would not be a problem for all the Proper Boston Red Sox fans.
