    Hi

I am using PPT 2002 on win XP system

I have not made a PPT presentation in a while and never had this issue before.

It seems that any pictures I import that were taken with my Nikon D-40 show up in PPT as a box with a red X instead of the image.
This is true regardless of how large or small the image files are. Even if I reduce it down to 100 kb it still yields the red X.
Other images from other cameras import fine.
However all the images I need to use were taken with the D-40.
    Images all are jpg files

Also, the same images import correctly into PPT 2003 on another machine.

    What am I missing here?

    Kyle

See RED X instead of graphics for some suggestions.

    Thanks Hans.
Actually I have already read the post at that link.
It really does not have an a nswer pertinent to my situation.
I did go thru the check list.

I really think there is something different about the files from my Nikon.
It is odd that those are the only files that don't import properly.
And even odder that they import into PPT 2003.

    Just saw this.
Guess the notifcation is not working.

I am trying to import images taken with my Nikon D40, imported to my hard drive,
then copied & reduced in size and stored again on my local HD.

the original images are jpg fine Large- 2008 x 3000; approx 3 MB each

reduced to 1805 x 1200- 100 dpi, 24 bit, (but even smaller does not work)

When I bring these images into powerpoint they do not associate properly and I get a red X.
Every other picture imports properly- from other cameras, from scans, from the web, crearted with mapping programs or phiotoshop.
It is just images from the D40. So I am guessing there is a problem there.

Can you post one or two of these small images as attachments so we can have a look at them?

Also have had a look at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/291874

It has been a long time since I have played with Office 2000, but is there some setting that you have set NOT to display images?

If I remember right this setting is in the Options area.

Have you tried any other images to just test them to see if they work?

Finally reduced the images enough to load to ppt fine.
They have to be less than 325 kb in size.

Oddly though, this is only true for the D40 images.
Images from other cameras load fine at 3 MB in size
and same for images generated elsewhere such as from photoshop or mapping programs

    Clearly something about the D40

    But what?

Have been trying Nikon tech support but they unfortunately, seem to be
useless- eager to blame something else like Photshop or Windows, and ready to wash their hands of this issue.

At least I can put my presentation together now. Just a few more time consuming steps involved.
