    Two-column index (Word 97)

    Hi

My index field specifies two columns, like this:

    Hi Dale,

You should be able to just delete the Continuous Section break at the end of your Index. A continuous section break at the end of a column format will evenly balance your columns.

Note that you may need add the two column format again or insert a section break after the continuous section break prior to deleting the continuous break to maintain the correct formatting. What you need to do really depends on your layout.

    Thanks, BAM.

Works like a bought one. Only trouble is, the column width of the single column on the last page of the index is too wide.

However, you set me thinking, and I came up with an equally simple method, which is to put a column break just before the last section break. This has the advantage of keeping the correct column widths.

Of course, you have to redo it each time fields are updated, but you can't have everything.

    Thanks for your help
    Dale
