When I use Windows2000 Backup to backup 6gb of files from one disk to the other it stops at 4gb and says fixed media is full. The fixed media the files are being backed up to is a new 40gb disk with 24gb free space still available. Is this something to do with the BIOS, the (new) hard disk or the MS Backup program?

<A target="_blank" HREF=http://support.microsoft.com/directory/article.asp?ID=KB;EN-US;Q250651>Q250651</A> Insufficient Disk Space Error Message During Backup to a File
This issue can occur if you back up more than 4 gigabytes (GB) of data to a hard disk that is formatted using the 32-bit File Allocation Table (FAT32) file system.
To work around this issue, configure Microsoft Backup to use multiple backup jobs when you need to back up more than 4GB of data to a FAT32 hard disk.
This behavior is by design.Leif
