NetZip Smart Download

When I click on any post in the Lounge I get NetZipSmart Download opening up, then a screen which says tracker.exe already exists, replace, Y or N. I'm attaching a Word97 doc with screen shot. Does this have something to do with the markup/animation in each post? It's making me crazy because I'd like to read the posts without this nonsense at every click.
Any ideas as to why NetZip is popping up for each post I click on?

Ouch - I'd dump NetZip!

BTW If you'd attached a graphic (gif, jpg, wmf, bmp) screenshot it would have been inlined here and we wouldn't have to mess about with Word!

Re: NetZip Smart Download

Thanks, Eileen. I haven't figured out yet how to include a graphic so I did the Word attachment.

Also, I don't have NetZip installed! It just pops up each time I try to read post at Woody's Lounge. I did a search through Explorer just to be certain, also checked under Control Panel, Install/Remove, and it's just not there. Which area of the lounge should I post a question to for help in getting rid of the hated NetZip?

As you can see, my signature still isn't right. It is <big>VERY</big> frustrating.
TIA

Has NetZip ever been downloaded and/or installed on that PC?

Re: NetZip Smart Download

I mastered my sig by starting a post and creating it within the text (replying would do).
Go to preview - if it looks OK, cut and paste the line from the edit panel into your signature.
** You've got one too many http: 's in the url
Got to be worth a try

Re: NetZip Smart Download

Thanks for the reply, Leif. I could not find any install for "NetZip Smart Download but finally did a search for "tracker.exe" in Explorer and just deleted it as it wasn't listed under install/uninstall.

I also just edited the signature line then did a preview. Each time the "http:" etc was duplicated - i.e. it appeared twice. I'm losing my tiny mind ...

Re: NetZip Smart Download

Are you using the InsertPicture tag <IMG SRC=http://www.wopr.com/w3timages/graphic1.gif> ?

I find the easiest thing is two have two IE windows open - one with the source of the graphic, the other with your post.
Right mouse of the graphic and select properties - select and copy the entire url.
Click the picture tag which will give you
[ image ]url[ /image ]
Double_click_to_select the word 'url'
Paste over the url.
Does than work?

PS - never try and edit the code in the signature field - it is changed after entry to a different format.

Re: NetZip Smart Download

Thank's for helping me, Leif! I <big>think</big> I've got it. And your are right - I was editing the signature in the wrong area. Now I just have figure out how to attach a gif or a graphic instead of using a Word (see Eileen's post earlier today). I think what I do is click on Preview/Attach a File and then navigate to where the the gif/bmp or whatever is located. But wouldn't that image that I put in the Word attachment be much too large??

Re: NetZip Smart Download

Depends on how big it is!
It's probably what I would have done..

Eileen - how do you get your screen shots posted?
I can get it into the clipboard - then what?

I'am NOT Eileen,
To get the screen shot just use "Ctrl+Print Scrn' or 'Alt+Print Scrn'and paste into a graphic program. Clip as neded and save.

Then you need to upload the images to a server (you can get a free one) and the link to it with in your post or reply using the image markup.
Attachment can be on your local drive but, MUST be 100K or smaller.

Re: NetZip Smart Download

You're not? - OK, I can cope

I can get it into a graphics prog - even something basic like PhotoEditor - it just seemed so <big>massive</big> when saved as a jpg or gif. As soon as I reduced it to <100K it all became illegible.
Maybe I should have just started with a smaller window snap-shot.....

Re: NetZip Smart Download

Ctrl+Print Scrn = Full screen
Alt+Print Scrn = Active window

If you will clip to the required area, then you shoul be able to resize and save to a smaller file.

Hope this helps.

All about Attaching Graphics

The complete answer is an amalgum of what you've all worked out already.

1.Get yourself a decent paint Program. My favorite has always been the shareware PaintShopPro.

2.Open your graphic in your Paint Program.
(To get a screenshot: do Alt-PrintScreen then paste into your Paint Program).

3. Make sure it's a small as you can make it. If there's just one area you really want, cut out the bit you need, save that as a new pic and discard the rest. If it's still too big reduce the size to your taste. Finally reduce the colors to the minimum you can get away with. Remember: JPG is best for photos; GIF is best for everything else - set the background to the background color and save as type 89a if you want it transparent.
(GifCon is great for making sure backgrounds are transparent - and for making animated gifs.)

4. Put it somewhere easy to find on your hard drive.

Now when you want to use it in a post here, just hit the Browse button on the Preview/Attach File screen and navigate to it on your HD.

Once it's on our server you can use it whenever you like. Right-click on where it says Attachment (near your Name) and copy the URL. (Save it somewhere you won't forget if you're going to be using it a lot.)

If it's for your Signature, just click the Image button in the TagPanel and paste your URL in. (You can delete the 'http://' bit to reduce the character count!)

OR, as Dave mentioned, if you already have access to a server, you can put your graphic on that and link to it there instead.
