I was looking in the Control Panel System page and saw "Change Product Key" and I was wondering if I could (merely) change the Key from the RC7100 Key to a Win7 Home Premium Key from a package I purchased?

Without the whole reload / upgrade / rebuild experience?

I'm not using Bitlocker so that shouldn't blow up (though I'd like to)

I'm afraid of a whole rebuild after getting settled into a pretty decent machine....

    Thanks

You're of course aware that Home Premium doesn't 'do' Bitlocker?
Even if what you suggest was possible, I would advise that you reinstall from scratch. Then you know that what doesn't work is not because of some weird incompatibility between versions!

Check out this post. Note this bit of info:

"...note that you can only upgrade to the Ultimate edition of Windows 7 RTM—since the release candidate installed Ultimate by default, you can't use a Home version to upgrade."

I'm with BATcher that you should install from scratch -- you'll be glad you did in the long run. Short-term pain for long-term gain.

I'm with you guys, a clean install is the best from any beta. It's not that tough w/easy transfer.

You can not simply change the product key. It is not allowed. Also there are many changes betwee RC and gold RTM. The clean install is the only way to go in my mind

This link: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/3075/...s-7-rc-to-rtm/ shows info on how to do the clean install from the Rc to RTM
