On my wife's Acer laptop the menus on Internet Explorer keep being blacked out.

I go right click on the desktop and Properties / Themes / and it is on Windows Classic Modified, that is when the menus and blacked out.

I change it to Windows Classic and the blacked out menus are gone.

I have done a search to find Windows Classic Modified but it found nothing.

But it seems to change it self, at no set period of time.

I have scanned with AVG and found nothing.

Can anyone tell me where I can find Windows Classic Modified so I can delete it or how I can remove it, with a bit of luck that should but an end to it.

Sounds like that someone/something (file corruption?) at some point has modified the Windows Classic theme and IE has helpfully saved the changes as Windows Classic Modified

Wild guess / stab in the dark...Are you inadvertently invoking the change of theme via a keyboard shortcut, e.g you mean to use the shift key but clip the control key as you type or some other odd key combination?

    stuck

Themes are generally stored at C:\Windows\Resources\Themes.

    Your Mileage May Vary.

I had a similar issue which was fixed for me by simply selecting another theme and then reverting back to the classic theme.

If that doesn't work, try creating a fresh profile by creating a new test user to see if the issue clears
    Cheers from Mike
