I am using an ACER Aspire 3000, w/60Gig HDD.

How do I determine if DMA is enabled, and can it be easily disabled and enabled?

The hard disk controller is the only thing that may use DMA. It is determined by the age of the machine and the Windows driver.
I would not change it if it is working correctly, you may cause data corruption.
If you really want to change it, open the properties on the ATA hard disk controller and view the Resources tab.

    cheers, Paul
