Strange Download Procedure (IE 5.0 Win'98 SE)

Suddenly, when I attempt to download files, rather than receiving the normal Run from Location, Save to File dialogue box, the IE screen goes blank with a QuickTime logo in the centre. Eventually the logo turns to a broken QT logo and when I check, the file is in my Download folder. Very curious. Can anyone suggest what has happened and how I might fix it?

Did you just install or upgrade Quicktime? If so, looks like QT messed things up for you.

You do not state what files or if ALL files have this problem. You might check to see if "Confirm open after download" is checked in the file types of Windows Explorer.

    Seems OK Now

Thanks Dave. I have no idea why, but suddenly this problem has gone away. The downloads included both .exe and .zip files. The association for zip is confirm after download. I hadn't intentionally updated QuickTime. Wish I knew what happened but, AOK now?

Some times all it takes is a clean boot to clean things up. Glad to see that you have things back. Also, if the Resources get messed up, odd things like this will happen.
