    Hai I am Kasinath.

My PC is Compaq presario 1630il ,with 2GB RAM.

Back side of my CPU ,SPDIF digital-out and Digital-in ports are available.

But in volume control properties, in master volume Digital-out is greyed out(not usable),others are active.

Master volume-->option->properties->For mixer device(play back) only following are listed
    1)Realtek HD Audio Rear out
2)Back Line in/mic, Fornt Line in
    3)Realtek HD Digital Input
    4)Realtek HD Fornt Green Jack
    5) Realtek HD Front Pinl Jack.

In Show Volume controls all (including dgital out) is checked ok,

If choose Realtek Digital Input from the above menu,
Show volume control -> digitalin is checked ok
But if click 'ok' Digital-in volume panel is greyed out (not usable)

My OS is Windows XP Professional with sp3 with latest updates.

    Details of my PC model

    Motherboard MSI MS-7174
    chipset Intel 915GV
Video graphics-> integrated upto 128MB allocated video memory,
sound/audio-> integrated High definition audio Realtek ALC 880 chipset
8-channel for Full Dolby 5.1/6.1/7.1 surround sound support with dolby pro logic.

My Realtek HD sound driver is 5.10.0.5874

I request experts to enlighten me why I could not make use of Spdif ports.

sdif ports are co-axial and I tried the recommend mono RCA cable.

kindly advice how to make the spdif ports active.

At present I am using creative 2.1 speaker system only. HP support site for my model says spdif ports can be used. But I donot know How to make it work.
