Some five minutes after starting XP SP3 of a morning it freezes; every day.
After rebooting it then runs quite happily for anything up to 16 hours.
I scan for viruses etc regularly, using AVG, and have checked for updated drivers. Now I am at a loss to know what to do.

2010-01-18 18:47You can go to this Microsoft Link that will guide you in rolling back SP3 and then this Microsoft Link to prepare your system for SP3 installation to see if that fixes your issue.

A bit more information would be helpful.
Are there any error messages or symptoms before it locks up ?? Does it complete the boot process and if so, are you using the system when it freezes ?? Does it freeze if you don't touch it after it boots ?? Online or offline ?? What do you do to resolve the issue and get it running again ?? Security software running on your system ?? No error messgaes or symptoms
Boot process completes. It freezes whether I'm using the system or not.
Either On- or off-line
Reboot, it then runs perfectly happily until I sht down, sometimes after 16 hours.
AVG and PC Firewall
I have checked the Events Log (System) and can find nothing that relates to the freeze soon after boot up.
