I have a database (version 2002) that uses an autonumber filed to create unique records.

All of a sudden when I try to add a new record the autonumber field starts using numbers that already exist so then I get an error message and can not save the record.

Anyone have an idea what is going on?

    Thanks.

Not seen this behaviour myself ever.

Sounds like corruption of some sort.

Have you tried doing a compact and repair.
If that fails you could try importing the whole database into a new database.

Go to my website (see below) and download a copy of my Liquorman Utilities. One of the options fixes this.
