    Thumbs up

Is it possible to upload files using FTP and IE 7 to a site that requires both a username and password? Does anyone remember how to connect to a FTP site using DOS including the username and password? I vaguely recall there was a format that would do that.

In IE you need to specify the user name and password on the URL line.
In DOS you need to remember the FTP commands - a search for FTP commands should work.
Why don't you install FileZilla (free) and FTP in style?

    cheers, Paul

Thanks Paul but I forget the format, can you give me an example? As in ftp://ftp.test.ca (what goes in here with what punctuation). Then once in the site how does one upload a file?

Now that I think about it I don't think you can upload using FTP in IE. Download is fine but not up.
This post has a nice little description of using Windows Explorer to connect to the FTP server. Then you should be able to upload.

    cheers, Paul

Thanks Paul... interesting link.. I tried various suggestions but sadly none worked.. Have decided to push the free FileZilla to the members of our family website. I tried it and it seems pretty easy..
