I often attach files to emails by right clicking on the file name and selecting Send To>Mail Recipient. This opens the new email dialog. When I click Send, it turns out that unless Outlook 2003 is already open, the email does not get sent. It will only be sent when I eventually open Outlook again.

This seems odd since the free Windows Live Mail does not exhibit this behavior.

Is there a way to have these emails sent without manually opening Outlook 2003?

I am running Vista Home Premium.

    Thanks

What you are experiencing is default behavior, and I don't know why MS chose to do things this way, but it may be that MS did not want a way to bypass virus scan engines hooked into Outlook. It could be changed with some serious VBA coding.
