    Cookies (IE6.0)

I have just re-formatted daughter's HDD, and installed NEW copy of WinME (other was corrupt), and the following cookie ID data shows up:
    "Cookiedaughter's name)@www.wopr.com " (etc)...
Question: how do I correct this strange listing of ALL the cookies that are listed? It has got to be somewhere, but I can't think of where to begin to look.

    TIA

    Re: Cookies (IE6.0)

What seems to be "strange" about these cookies?

That appears to be the CORRECT format for a cookie. You can not change the cookie name, if you do, a new one will be made when you visit that same site. As for having a user name, that comes from the Windows login screen, so each user will have their own cookies for the different sites.

Since you formated the hard dirve ALL cookies were removed and new ones will be added as she visits the different web sites.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Correct? What are you saying is wrong?

Start | Search | For files or folders
    andsearch for
    Cookie
This will direct you to your cookie folder(s) if that is what you are after .

Dave...she is the ONLY one to use the computer, other than me, and it is set up for no logon at all!
I think this data comes from when installation asked for her name of owner,etc...or somewhere!
Where can we fix it to NOT show up at all?
It was never like that before on previous installation. <img src=/S/scratch.gif border=0 alt=scratch width=25 height=29>

    Re: Cookies (IE6.0)

When she FIRST started the machine Windows asked for a User name and password. She type in her user name and NO password, therefore, no password is needed to LOG IN, but a user name is being used.

As for "Where can we fix it to NOT show up at all?"
Do NOT change this or you may lose settings and data that are listed in the "Documents and Settings" folder for that user name. And what is the problem with having her name linked to a cookie that she uses?

    <img src=/S/rofl.gif border=0 alt=rofl width=15 height=15>Dave..ok, ok...
I was just wondering, that's all...cuz it doesn't show up that way in my cookies section at all on my computer...just never seen it that way...mine shows -
    cookies:default@www.wopr.com (etc).
    Guess there is no harm then. <img src=/S/sigh.gif border=0 alt=sigh width=15 height=15>
She doesn't have to logon to machine at all...and I don't either on my machine.

You are logged in as "default", which is the user name used when one does not type in a user name.
