    Windows ME won't close

about 40% of the time my Windows ME won't close.
The only thing that works when this happens is the reset button.
Please how can I trouble shoot this?
By the way, it always shuts down properly after it reboots if I do it immediately.

Do you have "Hibernation" or ANY power saver running? If so, turn them OFF and try running for a while with them on.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

No. I have a serial port Zip drive which is often unpluged. that used to cause a similar problemn in WIN 98.
But this problem occurs wheather or not Zip drive is pluged in.
