ME and Netscape

I use Netscape 4.78. Have it on my PC and when I open Netscape, my connection is automatically dialed (using Win 98 SE).
On my new IBM Think Pad with Windows ME, I have to connect manually before I can use Netscape Communicator or Messenger. I have checked all settings that I can think of. Any suggestions for resolving this annoying situation? Thanks .

Netscape 6 is apparently now finished and stable. Maybe this would work better with Me.

Thanks for the suggestion. I think the problem is Dial up Networking. Whenever I check the properties, the "never dial my connection" is checked. I change it to "always
dial my connection" and as soon as DUN is closed and I open it again, the properties are back to the "never..." I guess this is a case for MS, but I am going to try tech support with IBM first.

Edited by cbaldrey to make KB article active

Found an MS knowlege article, Q275317, Unable to Change Internet Connection setting in Windows ME--describes my situation exactly, EXCEPT for the solution. I do not have internet call waiting for PC by Bell Canada.
Microsoft lists no other solution. Guess it is their way or no way! any suggestions?
Thanks for "listening".
