Windows Installer & IE 8

Hello,

I have been working on reformatting a friend's laptop and I was almost done and the most annoying thing started happening. Everytime I try to open IE8, the Windows Installer program pops up. I have to hit cancel and it is likely to pop up again and require another click on cancel before it goes away.

I've tried various installer remedies and even reinstalled IE8 and I am at a loss. I am supposed to drop this off soon and I am totally stuck on this.

Any suggestions?

Now its popping up at the end of the installation of software!!!

You might have some success after using the Microsoft Windows Installer Cleanup utility.
