I disabled the external microphone on my HP DV4-1220US laptop, in the "recording devices" dialog box of Vista 64..

Whaddaya know, the microphone didn't only get disabled, it disappeared from the list of devices, so I couldn't re-enable it.

I can't find it anywhere in the list of devices in Device Manager, either.

So, what do I do to get it back?

Right click the recording devices dialog box - untick the "hide disabled devices" option. Better still untick both boxes, then go and see what other soundcard devices you have uncovered.
