I have a problem I hope someone can help with. My registry has been damaged and my system boots to a blank screen. I can load task manager, and would like if possible to restore to a previous restore point via task manager, but I don't know how to do this. Alternatively, is there any way of rebuilding Windows System files without losing all the HD? Can anyone help? I'm running (or was!) Win XP SP3 with full up to date patches etc

    thanks

    Hi rdl,

Take a look here for instructions to start System Restore from the Task Manager. It does work, so hopefully your system is not too damaged to bring System Restore up.

    Please post back your results.

Thanks Gerald, that worked perfectly. Everything now seems to be ok again. Now I have to investigate why my Acronis Recovery reported my regular backup image files as corrupted! Thought I had all points covered, but you never can tell in this wicked world
Very grateful for your help, thanks again
