ever since the february windows update, when i save an excel file i get a warning box telling me the document contains macros, activeX or web components and may be a privacy concern. the file doesn't contain any of these.

there is also a warning on opening suggesting opening as 'read only'.

is there a way to get rid these annoying boxes?

version is excel 2002 sp3 [from office XP], OS = XPpro sp3

you should be able to go into the Tools\Security Options (my memory is vague on Office XP, been a while since i used it) and lower the security settings so it doesn't flag them, but very very sure, as if you think the file doesn't contain any of these and have been infected/corrupted, then you might be heading for trouble. You can also reduce the macro security also.
