E-mail msg settings (MS Office 2000, Outlk 2000)

I have Word set as my e-mail editor.
When I open Word & attempt via: Tools>Options>General Tab>E-mail Options to change my e-mail settings, font size & type primarily.
I get a msg: "Close other apps.... there is insufficient memory" etc.
Clearly this is not the case.
Any ideas how do I proceed to effect the desired changes?
    TIA
    Pete

Try a reboot. Then w/o opening anything else, go in and set this up.

There's lots of discussion in WOW about problems using Word as the email editor. I recall this was one, but don't recall if there was a fix.

    Oldog,

    Thanks for the suggestion.
I have tried this several times & no luck.
    I have Word2000/Win98se.
This is a new Office install, (previous install proved faulty) but no other evidence this time of failure.
Suppose I can operate without Word as e-mail editor, - what would the effect of this be practically spreaking?
    TIA
    Pete

you won't loose much in the way of usablility - mostly just the spell check as you type feature...

did this problem just start and did you 1) install anything prior to it happening 2) were you infected with nimda last week?

the out of memory error is common with nimda infections - the rich*.dll is messed up and needs replaced.
