    Printing Prob with O2K (sr1)

I seem to have this problem where I cannot print landscape correctly. What essentially happens is that everytime that you try to setup to print landscape you get the error saying 'that one or more of the margins is set incorrectly etc'. The left margin stays at 8.54 cm while the right is the standard 2.54. If you try to fix it ala the microsft way it does nothing but give you the same error, or if it does allow you to changeit, it just won't show any text up until the 8.54cm mark. This is a HP8100N printer on a HP4200 (spawn of satan) print appliance. Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi sketchyrob,

I think a little more information is needed here.

What do you mean by "fixing it ala the microsft way"??

What application are you using? Are you trying to change the page orientation via File/Page Setup or in the printer properties? If using Word, are you using multiple columns? Why do you have such a large left margin?

This seems to be a generic problem with most office apps ( word, excel, ppoint). The only fix it I could find on the Knowledge base was to go into word pad and check the minimal/maximum margins settings and to take it from there. To answer your questions: no multiple columns are being used. And I don't know why it is giving such a huge margin by default. It just does it. Even if you go to page set up initially and configure it to print landscape it still does the same thing, ie massive left margin (and it continually asks you if you want to fix it even though you just tried). When you do manage to get it to be 2.54 on each margin, it still will not show text until the 8.25 mark. I've tried every trick in the book I can think of. When in powerpoint it won't even print landscape at all, it just condenses the image on portrait page. It's all rather baffling. I did think that maybe it could be a conflict between the drivers on the print appliance and the one's on the client machine but even that has drawn a blank. I guess this has probably made things even muddier now!

    Cheers in advance!

    Hi Rob,

Since it is happening in all applications then it sounds like a problem with the printer driver rather than a problem in Office.

Did you check the unprintable area in the printer properties for your paper size? For HPs this should be on the Paper tab. Check the bottom margin (if portrait) and see what that is set to.
