Joining Multiple Word Documents (Word 97 SR2)

We have multiple users composing individual Word documents of daily events and at the end of the day, we need to join all of these documents together to become 1 document. What would be the easiest way to do that?

    Open document 1.
    Hit ctrl-end.
    Hit Insert-File, choose document 2 (double-click).
    Hit ctrl-end.
    Hit Insert-File, choose document 2 (double-click).
    Hit ctrl-end...and so on

Now, if you've more than a half-dozen or so, and a set number of files that will always have the same name and reside in the same location, you may want to consider recording those steps as a macro into a blank document and include the first document in your insertion steps.

    <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=98&Number=53443&fpart=1#Pos t53443>This macro</A> might speed up the process.

It makes a new document, and puts all files (*.DOC, *.RTF, *.HTML, *.TXT ...) in the folder into it in alphabetical order (It will gobble up all files; if the wrong converter is used, you may have to change "ConfirmConversions:=True").

The macro puts a page break and the file name in front of every file; you can delete those lines if you don't want that.
You can also easily adapt it to sort the files in some other order (descending, by date, size ...), include subfolders, or restrict the accumulation to certain file names (like .FileName = "????2001.*)" or types (like .FileName = "*.DOC)".

    Hi
You could try using the "IncludeText "field.
    It requests a filename ..

    Check word help

    Cheers
    Geof
