    when I press Ctrl+N a new document is created from normal.dot

    We have our own company template.

    I would like to remove the Word default shortcut key Ctrl+N

    I've used VBA code, created an AutoExec module to remove Ctrl+N

    The autoexec runs however the Ctrl+N shortcut is still active.

    The shorcut key Ctrl+N is assigned to "FileNewDefault". I couldnt find the key attached to normal.dotm.

    Know how I may accomplish this.

    This is my VBA code.

    know how to do this in bv.net?

    Sub main()

    Dim NormalState As Boolean
    NormalState = NormalTemplate.Saved

    CustomizationContext = NormalTemplate

    FindKey(BuildKeyCode(wdKeyControl, wdKeyN)).Clear

    NormalTemplate.Saved = NormalState

    End Sub

    many thanks

    If that doesn't work out, how about associating the key combination with your custom File>New command?

    thanks Jefferson

    Yes ill look into hooking and assigning the defaul shortcut key Ctrl+N to our custom menu in the Word menu.

    The tricky part is trying to assign to the menu

    many thanks again Jefferson

    Hi Diana,

    You could, of course, replace the Normal.dot template with your company template. That way, Ctrl-N would create a new document based on the company template. Plus, there's be no need for a macro.
