Hi, I want to be able to pull data from an excel spreadsheet (.xls) in to a .asp webpage using vbscript. I have created a couple of websites that pull data from an 'Access' database but the person who will run my current website does not have access to 'Access', if you see what I mean. I have looked at some code which should do this but have not found a way of making it work.
Do you need any more information?
Many thanks in anticipation of your help.

If you think of an .xls file as a one-table database, then your Access expertise should transfer fairly well.

The main source of confusion usually is the connection string, because there are multiple ways to connect to an .xls file. I think there is sample code in the Lounge, but in a quick pass through search, all I found was this MSKB article: How To Use ADO with Excel Data from Visual Basic or VBA. I recommend using a DSN-less connection method on a web server.

I don't fully understand your answer but I will try to think through what you've written and follow the link. Many thanks for taking the trouble to find it.

Have a look at this tutorial: http://www.tutorialized.com/view/tut...-Excel-DB/1895

I think it may cover what you are trying to do.

    Don,

Thank you very much for this.

I do like the help I'm finding in the Windows Secrets Lounge.
