Day one, open box, connected everything okay. Windows7 setup okay. Internet connection okay. All systems go, or so I thought.
I got a pop up from McAfee (Virus protection) to restart so that the Virus protection would run correctly.
Okay, I restarted. PC Came back saying "resuming Windows" and asked for password.
Okay if I enter a bad password, PC knows. I enter the correct password, and The Screen goes blank!!
Tried to restart using F8 or F12 numerous times, I still come back to "resuming Windows" and after password, a blank screen.
    Any suggestions??

If you can reboot into safe mode (F8) boot there and remove the Mcafee. then see if you can restore from restore dvd.

Call tech support of the manufacturer, or if retail go back to store. This sounds like a major problem. Yes McAfee could be the problem, but on a new unit, customer support should be contacted, and made to help solve problem or replace unit.

I tried F8 and F12 numerous times with no success. Turned it off and tried again, same result numerous times.
Actually I think the McAfee is okay, I got email (on my other machine) with a password from them, seemed okay.
I keep thinking it is something simple in the software locking up.
I have talked to Dell tech, several times and I am awaiting a call from Dell to come out and replace the hard drive.
I see there are a lot of Windows 7 lockups on the various forums.
    Many thanks to all!!
(I was hoping that someone had "been there, done that" and knew you had to type "Help Help"
and everything would go back to normal.)

I suspected this was one that the manufacturer was on the rack for. I'm surprised they did not find a major HD problem before it was shipped. Congrats on a great system. Glad it's finally acting the part.
