I can't work out how to put in the name and path of the database in a report which would be very useful so that I can immediately identify where a report is generated without building it into the report names (I know how to put the name of a report in my footer, use a text box with =[Name] in it, but just can't work this other problem out).

You ought to be able to do it with

    =CurrentProject.Path & "\" & CurrentProject.Name

CurrentProject.FullName does the job with just one function call.
