Suppposed invalid product key

I have a valid install of Office 2007 that all of a sudden is asking for my product key. Worse yet, it won't accept the key number on the package!!
I've repeatedly entered the valid number without success.
Isn't there some utility that will read whatever is on my DVD? I'm trying to avoid a reinstall since it will keep count and it isn't on a second machine.

I don't know whether it's still possible, but there are utilities to recover the original installation key code for an installed version of office. If you search here, hopefully one of those threads will turn up. Might need to re-enter that to do an update or repair.

Which OS are you running, and are you logged in with full local administrator powers or as a limited user?

ProduKey from NirSoft will tell you what key Office thinks it has been installed using. But I'm not sure that that will get you much further...
