Is there a way to verify that the number of items showing in the Inbox count is accurate? I have a program I use in conjunction with Outlook (NEO) and the two counts are way off, and they usually are right to the mark.

    Count them manually?

Is the Inbox configured to "show total number of items" or "show number of unread items"?

Joe, it's configured to show both -- but so is NEO (Nelson E-mail Organizer). And we're not talking about a little bit. Outlook is showing some 21,000+ messages, and NEO is showing 12,000+.

I've asked Caelo (NEO as well, but they haven't a clue either.

It would just be nice to at least have an idea which one is right, and then I might be able to get a bead on the "why."

Do you have a prior version of Outlook on another machine you could try?

Is there another folder in Outlook 2010 with a smaller number of items that you can easily verify?

In my experience Outlooks counts are correct. However, this is still beta software so an incorrect count would not suprise me either.

Joe it appears that smaller counts are valid. I alos tried exporting and re-importing the Inbox, and got the same numbers, so I suppose that they are pretty solid.

Do you mean the Outlook are good?

If you have conversations turned on in your Inbox temporarily disable and see if the counts are the same.

    Joe, I have conversations disabled.

I meant that the number of e-mails that are showing as being in the Inbox appear to be what Outlook is seeing. I set up smaller folders (00's instead of 000's of e-mails) and the numbers seem to be correct.

I do not have conversations turned on either.
