I am brand new trying MySQL. I have used Workbench to try to create a database and the tables but have been unsuccessful. I create them but I can't actually get them created on disk. I'm missing something but what? How do I do this? Is there some other way of creating a database?

Not sure what the problem is.
How do you know they are NOT created?
Can you NOT find them next time you go into Workbench?

Having said that I am NOT A FAN of Workbench.
It is not particularly intuitive, and still needs a lot of work,
to be a half decent management tool (subjective view that).

Have a look at EMS SQL Manager Lite

    SQL Manager Lite for MYSQL

Download ... EMS SQL Manager for MySQL Freeware (full installation package)

It is FREEWARE and a good little application.

I have used it a lot to manage MYSQL databases
    including Creating from Scratch.

Thanks much for the help. About the tables: I set the folder to contain the DB result and nothing shows up. Very frustrating. Hopefully, MyManager will be easier to get some results. Thanks.
