Internet Explorer (5.00)

Why do pictures that are on websites look more like a drawing and not an actual photo? I have checked the settings.

Because that's how the artist wants you to see them?

I'm afraid you will need to be a little more specific. Which particular site is giving you grief? Give us an example, so we have some chance of helping you.

Cheers

The site is www.svbest.com. This is our business site. On all other computer systems the photos look fine, even mine at home. This is one of the owners computers - which he just purchased that doesn't allow him to see the photo correctly.

Did you check DISPLAY settings on that machine? It looks like it has 256 colors or less.

What can I say? Try to use another browser (Netscape Communicator, for example) or upgrade IE to v.6.0 (or 5.5 SP2 or whatever)...

Re: Internet Explorer (5.00)

You need to verify that the color settings for your display is set to 256 colors or higher. Pictures (images) generally look grainy at 256, High Color or True Color is preferred.

If you are unable to increase the colors, that's an entirely different matter, please let us know if this is the case, as it may elude to a hardware conflict of some type.

To verify your display settings are correct, do the following:

Right click anywhere on your desktop where there is not an icon,
click on properties.
click on the last tab, settings. In the lower left corner of this window, you will find the 'color' settings. From the pull-down, select High Color or True Color.

You can go here to see if pictures on other sites look the same way, (this link takes you to CNN.com, which has a few pictures...)

Let us know how you progress!
