I need to have a count of the number of detail lines within a group.

I've accomplished this by using the Group Counting -1 scenario and I get the count that I want in the footer using DataSource = [txtCount].

The bad news is, because I have to have the [txtCount] =1 text box (which is set to visible=no) in the detail line, spaces are being used by this box, therefore leaving spaces between groups of blank lines.
Even using minimum heights, still shows space.

    Any suggestions?
    Cheers,
    Andy

Why are you using txtCount ?
Can you not just use =Count(*) as the function in the Group Footer
