Many browsers patched prior to hacking event

    By Susan Bradley

One of the top draws at CanSecWest, the highly regarded Canadian security conference, is the break-the-browser contest known as Pwn2Own.

So can it be coincidence that Apple, Google, and Mozilla updated their browsers just days before the contest?

Flash Player's Settings Page is not just or Chrome users. All Windows users who have Flash Player should go to the Flash Player Privacy Controls Page. It looks like a web page, but it is really loacally stored on your computer. http://www.macromedi..._manager06.html

If you are concerned about flash cookies and/or remembered sites, the Firefox Add-In "BetterPrivacy" can be set to clear everything when you close Firefox. This allows full use of Flash (as opposed to shutting cookies off at the Adobe control page) and everything goes away when you are done.

Yes, but what will you do about the Silverlight Cookies which can live ANYWHERE on your computer??

Seriously, there are other things in that Flash Control Panel which everyone should be aware of. For example, did you know that by default, with Flash Player enabled, any web site can activate your web cam and microphone whenever they like? True story. Check it out, and reset that option to NEVER allow.
