    Prevent printing (Word 2000)

    Hi,

Does anyone know of a way to prevent a document from being printed out. I
want users to be able to read the document only. I am using Windows NT 4
server and Word 2000. The NTFS permisssions do not cover this.

    Many thanks

Unfortunately, anything that can be displayed can be printed! Even if you were able to disable all printing (and I don't know of any way to do it), they could still grab a screen dump and print that, so I'm afraid you're going to be stuck with this one.

Create a macro named FilePrint and save it in the document. The name of the macro is important. The Macro should call a dialog box which says that you cannot print the document.

However, if you copy the entire file contents into a new file, then printing is not disabled.

So the best other way is to generate a PDF from the document and disable Printing. Copying, Modifying etc.
