I am using Outlook 2007. When I open Outlook it downloads my messages. I used to be able to see the number of messages being downloaded on the bottom right corner of the screen. That has disappeared and I looked through Outlook settings but can't find how to bring back the info which showed this. The messages all appear in my in box okay, but it was nice to see the progress in the lower corner. I checked the dialog box for send/receive which shows the bar going across the box, but I don't want that.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Do you see the Outlook Icon in your system tray? If so, right click on it and see if the "Show New Mail Desktop Alert" option is turned on. If the icon isn't in your system tray, it may be hidden.

After investigating this a bit, I think I actually see the same behavior. When I first start Outlook, there is a pop-up window that shows "receiving n of m messages" but after that I don't normally see that unless I get a large block of messages. And I can't find any option that appears to turn that on or off. I have all of the right-click options on the icon set except for Hide when minimized. Perhaps someone else can shed further light on this.

On my Outlook 2003, the 'Receiving Messages' notice is in the Status Bar.

Go to the 'View' menu and check its selected.
