    Word 07 SP2
Word will not allow me to accept or reject changes.
I checked document protection and it indicates unrestricted access.

The attached document has an updated date in the header but I can't accept or reject it. Both choices are "greyed out"

Do all of the changes in the superficialities of MS Office result in any improvement.
I am having a terrible time trying to find features and commands that I have used expertly for decades. It's like getting in my car and finding out that the accelerator pedal now steers the car and the mirror adjuster controls the heat. Or like one of those old Laurel and Hardy movies where Hardy flips the light switch and the water starts running.
It seems to me like inconvenience for inconvenience’s sake.

Your document is actually protected for revisions and the unrestricted access you note is a different type of document protection.

On the Reviewing Ribbon, click the last button (Protect Document) and choose Restrict Formatting and Editing. This opens a task pane and down the bottom you should be able to choose Stop Protection. Now you can uncheck the Editing Restrictions check box which appears higher up in the task pane.

Once you turn this off, you should be able to accept your revisions.

Here is a tip about documents that mysteriously become protected that may pertain to your post here...
