The first one just sat there, the second seems to be just an amusing animation. What do they do?

I am stuck where the smoker is, put the pipe end into the keyhole but nothing seems to occur - what should I be doing?

I got stuck with that bit as well.

Before you putt he key in there is a pully system in the back ground with a loose cable hanging down, click on the cable and it puts it in the right location.

After that put the key in the box and then click on the red button on the top. Hopefully the pully system in the background should move and the little man will ride it to the top.
