My sister's computer has had an issue where her two daughters accounts have gone crazy. Almost all the programs are gone. Where did they go and how do we get them back? I tried putting in a new account but no programs install for that either. What has happened?

Do you mean the icons are gone?

Or do you mean the programs have been uninstalled?

The programs on the computer are there on my sister's account. When you go to her daughter's accounts and go to start almost all of the programs have vanished. If they are going to do anything they have to go to my sisters' side.

If you're comfortable using Windows Explorer, do the following:

Just to be sure I'm understanding the problem correctly, go to C:\Users\SisterName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Wind ows\Start Menu\Programs (replace SisterName with your sister's User ID). The "missing" programs should all have folders and/or shortcuts to them showing there.

If so, and you want the programs available to everyone who uses the computer,

    1. hold down the Ctrl key,

2 select (left-click on) each of the folders or shortcuts that you want to make available (if you want all of the programs showing, hold down the Shift key instead, select the first entry, then select the last entry; this will highlight all of them),

    3. in the Menu toolbar, click on Edit > Copy,

    4. go to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu,

    5. left-click on the Programs folder,

    6. click on Edit > Paste.

    That's it.

Please report back on how it goes.
