In Xp, the Desktop you saw in front was the same that you found either under Documents and Settings, your (username) and Desktop OR simply on TOP of the tree in Explorer. However, in Vista the number of items in both (at the Top & under the User) are different and though you log into Vista using Name, still the desktop in front is not yours (as the number of items shown differ from the one under your user name). Then which one is your Desktop?
Almost (I have seen around 20) all of the books avoid this topic of double-desktops. Moreover if you copy a file to your desktop, it also appears on the other one and vice-versa. Can anyone shed light on this?

The desktop you see appears to be a combination of:

    UserName\Desktop
    Public\Desktop (Old "All Users")
and whatever system folders you've selected to be shown.

    Duplicates are removed.

    Leave it to Microsoft...
