    I have to simple access 97 database that I would like to make read-only. What is the easiest way to make this happen?

    In Windows Explorer, right click on the file and choose Properties. You can then set the read Only Attribute to Yes.
    This will apply to all Users, who will see a warning message when they open the db.

    I like that, very simple. What if there is a requirment for a password?

    What do you want the password to do?
    You can set a database password from within the database using Tools..Security but you need to Open Exclusively first.

    But if you want the database to be Read Only for some users, and open for data entry and edits for others you need something more complicated. Full User and Groups Security is the usual way.
