    Calculating Dates (Access 2000)

    <img src=/S/hairout.gif border=0 alt=hairout width=31 height=23>
    I am trying to calculate and compare 2 date fields and return the values for both fields.
    OrgStart is a starting date. OrgEnd is the ending date. I want to compare the OrdEnd to be 1 day less than the OrgStart date. I have tried [OrgStart]=([OrgEnd]-1) in an expression, but I get a data mismatch error.
    The help feature in Access is not much help with this one. I think I am missing something. HELP!!
    thanks in advance.

    That should work fine as long as both are Date/Time fields, which their not. Check the data types your using.

    Well, both OrgStart and OrgEnd were in a previous query tagged as: OrgStartatevalue([EffBegDat]) and OrgEndateValue([EffEndDat]) I don't want the time part because it is not relevant. I then rechecked the props for the query fields and sure enough the 'short date' was not identified. So it worked. thanks again.
