HP desktop running Win XP 2. Computer crashed recently. Was able to get it back up and running using the HP Recover function, but some things did not work afterward. I have a recorded CD-R in the DVD drive. The disc will play but will not eject. When I press the eject button the machine makes the normal sounds but the drive does not eject. Have tried the paperclip in the manual eject hole but that doesn't do anything. Anyh ideas?

Try to open the tray and remove it while booting.

Stick the clip in, and pull the hatch cover out with your fingernail at the same time. Works for me. Belt might be broken.
