    I need to be able to create a bookmark value such that it is the result of a calculation involving 2 other bookmarks - all the bookmarks are contained within a word table.

    The formula I need to calculate is as follows - Monetary Result = (Monetary Value /100) * (100 + Percentage)

    I'd like to be able to format the result ##,###,###

    I've tried to use the information in Word Field Maths by macropod but don't seem to be able to make Woord 2007 do what I want it to.

    If you can help in any way I'd very much appreciate it.

    Regards

    Terry

    Are you getting an incorrectly formatted value result or a syntax error?

    Assuming your Ref fields return numbers then the following should work to give you a return number
    {={Ref MonetaryValue}+{Ref Percentage}*{Ref MonetaryValue}/100}

    If this doesn't work, have a look at the result of each Ref field to check it is definately a number.

    Thanks Andrew - that is more than just a start, but I really need the answer to be formatted as in my original question.

    Any further help you or anyone else can give would be much appreciated.

    Regards

    Some field codes accept custom numeric format strings or "pictures." This may or may not be listed in the Insert Field dialog, but you can check the in-product or online help for more information. E.g., Numeric Picture (\#) field switch - Word - Microsoft Office Online. (General article on predefined formats: Format (\*) field switch - Word - Microsoft Office Online.)

    Using the link that Jefferson pointed at, you can add the formatting code to the nested field so that it looks like this
    {={Ref MonetaryValue}+{Ref Percentage}*{Ref MonetaryValue}/100 \# "#,##0;(#,##0)" \* MERGEFORMAT}

    This one will show negative numbers inside brackets.
