    Folder Size (Outlook 2000)

Several of my users do not have a Folder Size on the properties page of their email folders. Is this in a particular build of Outlook 2000?

This has been true for several clients, and I don't believe all of them would have removed it. If it was just one, I would let it pass, but this has recently become important. We have been acquired by another company, and they enforce mailbox size more than we do.

    Re: Folder Size (Outlook 2000)

    Hi
Sorry for the delay in answering but have been away from my desk.
Assuming that when you say "..do not have a Folder Size on the properties page..." you mean that the Folder Size button is missing from the Properties dialogue box, we had the same problem with some people using NT4 and Outlook 98; it was fixed by a registry edit.
I am not a desktop support guru so I do not know if this is still the answer for Outlook 2000 - perhaps one of the other more knowledgeable loungers can confirm/update.
Goto Start | Run. Type regedit in the box and OK. This displays the registry.
Then navigate to HKEY Current User | Software | Microsoft | Office | 8.0
(NOTE : Outlook 98 was part of 8.0 which appears under Office. I suspect Outlook 2000 is part of 9.0 but don't know)
Open 8.0 and then select Outlook.
The relevant item was called ChkFldrSize.
If it was already present, it had to be set to True i.e. value 1. If it was not there, it had to be created with value 1.
We never got to the bottom of the mystery why some users had an entry which was set to False (=0) while other users had no ChkFldrSize entry at all.
Anyway, I suspect your problem is something to do with this registry key.
Finally, I had never touched the registry before (and still don't touch it for anything but this fix!) but it was quite easy. Just be careful!
Can another lounger confirm that the necessary is to create/set the same item but in Office | 9.0 for Outlook 2000?
    Hope this helps.
