I am using the find function in Access frequently and don't want to use "search field as formatted" as it will increase the time too much. Is there any way to have this field unticked as default?
At the moment each time I start up my access, I need to manually change this before starting to search.

In Access options - Advanced you can change the Default Search behaviour. The options are:
    • Fast Search
    • General Search
    • Start of field Search
If you set it to General Search, the Search Dialog will open with Look In defaulting to the whole table (or query) , and doing that automatically disables "Search as formatted".
But searching the whole table is slower than searching a specific field.

In Access 2007 you get to options via the Office button. In earlier versions it is via Tools Options.
This Microsoft Article describes another approach.
    Regards
    John

Thanks John, I now found the option but you are right, it's much slower in searching. So I guess I stick with the original option and unclick the formatting field each time prior to searching.
