I am creating a content type for a discussion board in SharePoint (WSS) and I want a column to be automatically populated with the current data and time when the item is created. Of course the last update column reflects this initially, but it changes every time the item is updated. I can set the column type and format to date and time, but the selections for default value only include today's date. There is no "now" function available for a calculated value and the "today" function only provides the current date. Any ideas?

    Hi Bill,

Why not use the "Created" column? It always contains the date and time on which the item was created.
