I was removing digital protection from a computer I set up a long time ago with a C and D drive , I made the save to D seamless at the time or so I thought . After getting rid of the spyware I took the system home for testing and cleaning there I found 2 copies of documents and settings and upto 4 copies of my documents my pictures my music. As these are system files can I tell which one the system registered . All the multi copies are on D , drive C has one of each. Can I remove the multi copies and keep one of each. It would be better to start windows over but this system hardware wise isn't worth it . Any suggestions? note I'm comfortable working in the registry. Thanks Bob

Multiple copies sometimes occur on a corporate network, but I have not seen it on a home PC.
I would copy them all into a common location, but put them in separate folders. Then you can wander through them as required and clean up - after a couple of backups.

    cheers, Paul
