    Hi Terry

That would seem to be a dead link. Ditto with the one you posted on Tek-Tips.
    Maybe the leak got plugged

It seems ot be this newsgroups that is doing the truncating. I am definitely entering them in full, I can see them in full until I press POST. I've no idea what is happening here, so here it is in plain text (I hope).

Define truncated. If you mean the use of ellipsis then I believe that is just how url's are displayed when copied or typed. All three links show the full url when I hover on them and they all work.

The site shortens long URLs for readability. The link is still correct.
It's worth learning how to make a link with your own title rather than the URL - click on the chain icon in the editor.

That web page left out an important paragraph from the Why Forums? section

Control: Web forums allow Microsoft to maintain complete control over discussions of Microsoft products. We will be able to secretly edit threads, ban users who repeatedly bring up embarrassing information, delete threads or comments that might cause corporate embarrassment, track users IP addresses and browser fingerprints maintaining their real identities, and, in general, maintain far more control than we were able to extend to Usenet.
